e-POWER – a unique combination

Nissan’s e-POWER is a unique technology that uses a petrol engine and lithium-ion battery to power the electric motor. The electric motor drives the wheels solely, allowing Nissan e-POWER vehicles to function similarly to an electric vehicle, providing instant response and quietness to its occupants. e-POWER requires no plug-in charging, hence no lifestyle change is needed, just fuel up and go. In addition, e-POWER uses regenerative braking when the vehicle is coasting or if the brakes are engaged to keep the battery charged.

Smart technology for maximum efficiency

While the e-POWER system has a similar powertrain to an electric vehicle, it has a small petrol engine and a generator onboard to charge the vehicle’s battery, allowing the e-POWER system to operate without plug-in charging. As the engine does not directly drive the wheels, it operates at an efficient RPM, enabling maximum fuel efficiency to be achieved.

Select your preferred drive mode with a flick of a switch. Different drive modes will adjust accelerator response. Sport mode allows for a more spirited drive, while Eco mode prioritises energy efficiency over performance. Normal mode provides the optimal balance between performance and energy efficiency.

BE MORE ENGAGED WITH E-PEDAL STEP

With a flick of a switch, you can activate e-Pedal Step, a feature to drive using a single pedal to accelerate and decelerate. e-Pedal Step removes the need to shuffle between two pedals in stop-start traffic, or when starting off on an uphill.

Activation of brake lights when slowing down

When e-Pedal Step is turned on, releasing the accelerator pedal to slow down may activate the brake lights to warn vehicles at the rear of your intention. Activation of brake lights can also be seen by the driver in the instrument cluster.

Reduces fatigue

Accelerate and decelerate using a single pedal, reducing the need to shuffle between pedals, especially for start stop traffic in the city. Regenerative braking is used when decelerating, harnessing excess energy from the wheels to the battery, helping to enhance fuel efficiency.

Recharges on-the-go

You don’t need to plug-in an e-POWER vehicle. The petrol engine produces energy that charges the battery when the vehicle needs it. The petrol engine produces energy that can either be directly supplied to the electric motor or to recharge the battery. The electric motor alone drives the vehicle's wheels giving an electric feeling drive at all times.

Recycles energy from braking

The friction caused by braking produces energy, and e-POWER doesn't let all the energy usually lost through breaking, go to waste. The regenerative braking system on e-POWER converts kinetic energy from deceleration into electrical energy and feeds it back to the battery.
