HOW DOES e-POWER IMPROVE YOUR DRIVE?
Powerful, smooth acceleration
With precise electric motor control at fractions of a second, e-POWER delivers powerful and smooth acceleration when you need it. The electric motor’s instant torque output and acceleration performance helps you stay ahead of traffic.
In high power demand situations, such as strong acceleration when entering an expressway, the petrol engine and generator are used to keep the battery pack charged and can directly power the electric motor.
A new level of driving enjoyment
e-POWER allows you to accelerate and decelerate your car using only the accelerator pedal – pushing down to speed up and easing off to slow down^. This can happen at a rate 3 times as fast as typical engine braking.
e-POWER makes driving in slow moving traffic easier and less stressful. It also lets you fully enjoy a spirited run on your favourite winding road. As the vehicle is decelerating, regenerative braking charges the battery pack.
A quiet relaxing drive
Due to the vehicle being powered by a battery pack, the e-POWER system is quieter than an ICE (internal combustion engine) vehicle.
The system’s petrol engine charges the battery pack depending mainly on road conditions. If the road conditions* result in relatively louder ambient noise such as on the expressway or on rough road surfaces, the system takes the opportunity to charge its battery pack, when road noise helps masks its sound.
Greater Fuel Efficiency
The on-board petrol engine runs at optimal speed** to charge the battery pack when needed for maximum fuel efficiency.
^e-POWER offers drivers the ability to accelerate or slow down the vehicle to a low crawl speed using only the accelerator pedal. The driver needs to operate the brake pedal to come to a complete stop.
*Should the battery level be at a low level, the charging of battery will still occur regardless of ambient noise.

MAXIMISING POWER AND EFFICIENCY POTENTIAL
Nissan’s e-POWER system includes a petrol engine with a power generator, inverter, battery and an electric motor. The electric motor delivers power directly to the wheels, using energy stored in the battery pack. Used for charging the battery pack or powering the electric motor, the petrol engine eliminates the need for an EV charger.
